I really don't think were getting the whole story From either side I watch a video with JD Talking on Virgin Radio .I really think the media has ran with the ET Story Me myself I like JD .So according to Chris Murphy JD was merely "contracted" to the band. Not 1/6 of the band I don't feel like were getting it all And yes JD is not being to clear on things and sticks his foot in mouth sometimes and can be a arse But when i watch the video i can see a little where he is coming from And this is my own opinion Peace Heres the youtube Virgin Interview www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMzpi0FzSh4

If INXS are back with Chris Murphy, then I think that is the smartest move they have made in a long time. They had great chemistry with him, and he looked out for their interests better than anyone else has.

Yes, Chris Murphy was a brilliant manager for them in the day. But, I found this new reunion rather surprising, as the way he left the band was a 'surpise' to them ( according to an insider at the time). They were devastated . I also didn't like the way he treated Max Q for Michael. Not allowing it to be promoted properly, and not even allowing Michael's picture on the album cover.
Anyway interesting times , I think! We'll see whats to come...

About the band, Jon Stevens was officially made a sixth member. I remember not being pleased with the announcement! LOL! Then he was officially let go. JD on the otherhand had the contract win from Rockstar.(one album, one tour) I think since the tour went on so long and he's still on the website, fans assumed he was still an official member. Perhaps the band eluded it too, but left it an open decision. At any rate I feel for the fans that are now wondering whats going on!

Maybe they're going to retire or go into a new field....instrumentals!
Thanks for sharing that minxs, there are always two sides to every story but the stories surrounding Michael and the band seem to comprise of more than two sides. Who does one believe??

Mr Murphy was a good manager but I doubt he'll be able to weave the huge amount of magic they need now to be back on top. I hope that they retire.

The more I think of this the more this is a case of deja vu, really. I've seen this drama unfold once before. Then it was INXS vs Rockstar vs Michael thing, and now it is the same only involving JD and INXS. It's too bad a similar drama's happening in the INXS camp again... I'm sure the fans of current INXS and the fans of JD are still confused and choosing sides based on where their loyalties lie first. Though I've never been a fan of JD, I feel for the personal fans of his in particular having been in the same position. After all, if sides must be chosen I'm in the Michael Hutchence = INXS crowd, though I also love the whole INXS (up till 1997) who are great musicians. All in all, I'm very happy I'm not in the centre of things this time and I can just follow the events unfold from some distance. I'm still pleased INXS is back with Chris Murphy, though I'm not really a fan of the current INXS at all. Albeit, as Cathy said, Chris Murphy didn't allow for adequate promotion for Max Q, I think he was doing what he believed to be the best decision to protect INXS as a whole at the time. Of course, it ended up being a huge disservice to Michael. In hindsight, it's a testament to how vital and irreplaceable Michael was (and still is) to INXS! Unlike JD. Only time will tell how INXS will fare in the future.

All I can say is I back up INXS for whatever they want to do with their band and their lives.

Chris Murphy, eh? Not sure how I feel about that. Michael felt betrayed by him for not promoting Max Q properly.
I just don't know...regardless, I don't think INXS is relevant in the music scene without Michael. If their last album was any indication, the music is stagnant...stuck in 1985. I don't thin the "magic" of Chris Murphy can fix that.

And, as in all of chemistry, when a key element is removed, it is no longer the same. I mean you just cant take the hydrogen out H2O and replace it with nitrogen....because all you'll end up with is a bunch of toxic air. Sadly I dont think INXS fully understand the rift this Rockstar sham has created among its own fans. The best thing they could do right now is to just let go. Not just for their fans, but to salvage their legacy. I just cannot imagine how adding yet another singer could really benefit them.

I totally respect everyone's opinions, although we disagree about some things. I want INXS to continue, because I truly think Michael would want that. I don't think he would have wanted them to do it via Rockstar, and I always felt that was a bad move. I think that it will take some time before the "reality show taint" is forgotten. However, I think they deserve to continue doing what they love.
I want INXS to continue, but I think they could do so as they are....5 of them. Kirk could sing vocals. I think that their fans would accept that better than a new vocalist. If they do get a new singer, maybe they could do like Queen, and say INXS, with singer so-and-so. I don't think they should have to change their name, but I also think they should recognize that INXS for a lot of people will only be with Michael.
As for JD, none of this is surprising. They picked the troublemaker of Rockstar, and he certainly hasn't changed. I think why so many INXS fans are confused is because INXS made a big deal about how great JD fit in, and they even said in one interview that they ripped up JD's contract and said he was one them now. But now, it seems that was not the case, and that he was disposable from the start. I wish INXS would make a more clear statement.
In my opinion, INXS originally set up the contract the way they did just in case they got someone who didn't work out. They could legally drop them with out repercussions. I think that at first they were thinking they would keep JD, and that is when they made all the lovey-dovey interviews about him being their new brother. I think that over time JD started to get more and more diva-ish and out of control. I saw this myself. On the first leg of the tour he was good. When I saw them on the last leg, he was completely different, and not in a good way. I think they decided somewhere along the way to let JD go at the end of his contract. Maybe they didn't make it public because they wanted to keep the door open to bring him back if he cleaned up. I doubt they could for see JD using the situation in this way. Of course, he likes to use sympathy...he got on Rockstar because of it.

Sadly I dont think INXS fully understand the rift this Rockstar sham has created among its own fans. Too true! And not once but twice now. I wonder how INXS will fare on Murphy's indie label, how they'll fit in. Seems his label mainly puts out hit compilations from various countries, reggae, whatever. Well, at least they've a record company now. Maybe INXS will go back to the roots, so to speak. I won't be buying a record by them as I didn't buy Switch either, so from that point of view it's neither here nor there what kind of music they make next.

I don't think they'll ever be able to get rid of the stigma that comes from their foray into reality tv.
