Bee Gee Barry Gibb set to close Sound Relief show March 10, 2009 11:00pm IT is going to be very crowded in the wings of Sound Relief for the final act at the SCG with Barry Gibb confirmed to close the benefit concert on Saturday night. Molly Meldrum and the Bee Gees' long-time promoter Kevin Jacobsen sealed the deal yesterday for Gibb's first Australian performance in a decade, reports Kathy McCabe. Gibb will close the show with a superstar band including INXS drummer Jon Farriss. "Every artist who grew up on the Bee Gees will want to be side of stage for this one, no matter how young they are," an insider said yesterday. Gibb is expected to bring a special guest from America with him to perform a couple of numbers - Olivia Newton-John. www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25168146-5012980,00.html

It's about bloody time. I thought that being the supposed "biggest band" to come out of this fine country they might be a bit more forthcoming with their time for this important cause. Kirk probably doesn't want to break from his busy social schedule.....

what is INXS w/JD up to these days...haven't heard much. (I live under a rock you know! or would that be a bushel of corn?!!) I know this is not a "Anti- New INXS" message board, and there are those that like JD, but sorry folks, I can't stand to watch him, I can't figure out how they ever came by the notion that this guy has talent...... (oops...did I say that?) send hate mail to m_chardonnay@yahoo.com

I'm glad to hear that at least one of them will be there for this cause. I was wondering if any of them would. I'm sure if Michael were here, they definitely would all be there.

"Fortune (real name Jason Bennison), a native of Mississauga, Ont. who was raised in Pictou County, N.S., says he was fired from his job fronting INXS without warning over a year ago and is now living out of the back of a pickup truck."
(don't know how to do the cute little quote thing) but this is a quote from the thread you referenced Katri...
wow...
Please say it isn't so...poor fella!
sorry, did not mean to get away from the subject...

I'm angry, the rest of INXS should have been there, period. Aside form just "doing the right thing" they would have captured some much needed positive publicity. What exactly is it that they are all doing now?

What exactly is it that they are all doing now? Exactly!!! Their global strategist, Chris Murphy really blew this golden opportunity. I'm sorry but I think he's just out of the loop at this point. He may have been a good manager in 1985, but c'mon any dufus would have demanded they be there and restore some of their lustre to the Aussies.
