I was asked why, with the chapter 'The Loved One' I delved so much into Mothers' backgroud, Dads' and my own & did not just get on with Michael's story - but this is Michael's story. You have to examine the dynamics of the family from the beginning to see where Michael's thought process lay. The fact is we were not the typical family next door - we all had baggage & that is what makes us the people we were when Michael took his life, and the people we are today. T.

I don't see how you could write about Michael's life without first telling where he came from so it's quite appropriate to talk about where his parents came from and how they met. And what the family dynamic was while Michael was growing up. It gave us a lot of insight into the man which is what I always wanted to know. I admired the "artist" for his talent and career but I wanted to know about the flesh and blood man. And your book did this. For that I thank you and Patricia so much. It can't be easy writing the truth because sometimes the truth is painful and not very pretty. But it is what it is. And it took a lot of courage to tell it like it was.
Cheers Lilli

Hi Tina,
noone else than yourself as well as your mother could have wrote a book which contains the whole story. Certainly and obviously Michael as the unique artist he was owned skills to change himself in seconds. For instance the moment when you no matter what have to be ready to go on stage and be the rockstar. A backstage after-party might require another side of oneself. And certainly so did his beingness as brother, son and father. But I see the difference between "show" and a relaxed "just be yourself" although it appears to me, Michael more that anyone else appeared to be very much himself on stage when I watch the videos or DVDs I own.
However, here comes another thank you your way. Thank you for writing your truth and therefore giving so much insight. I find this brave and another evidence for your genuine Love for Michael.
I will read this book a second time as soon I find the right moments for sharing more sparetime with myself and reading.

Tina, Thank you for sharing your family's background. I think, in addition to helping everyone understand Michael's past, it also reminds us all that he was a "normal" person, regardless of the fame etc. Patricia

Thankyou Tina...I think we can all understand that it is a family's dynamics that can affect how we think and feel as individuals as we grow older.
What is a "normal" family anyway? Most of us have baggage we carry from the past, in one way or another...but with this chapter, you have given us the chance to enter into your family's lives, to help us understand Michael, the man, further. ;D

I didn't close the eyes until I finished reading!!! I share the opinions of which they wrote about chapter1,I believe that each person is the sum of several factors...Nobody can run previously if it didn't learn to walk...it's an example...(In certain occasion I read: ¨The present it is the sum of our past¨)For that reason nobody is man or woman without to have been before a child and those experiences "mark" our personality...
The book speaks of a man... and the artist is a part of that so special person...
Thanks,Tina!*Natalia*

Natalia, I am constantly delighted and impressed with your observations - thrilled that you take the time to read and write in a language that is not your first spoken! Thank you. T.

Tina,
This is what struck me with so much resonance when I read the book. I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't family history. Then, given my background, and my professional life, I realized just how important it was for you and your mother to share these parts of your stories before you told Michael's story. It suddenly made perfect sense, and is important for future generations of your family. If someone doesn't write it, once it's gone, it's gone. Families are important, and so are their stories.

I thought this chapter was quite interesting. I still smile when I think of the words Tina used to describe her baby brother. I've never heard of such a cute & smart baby! I can seem to relate to Tina's experience w/ men...sort of a sore subject for myself. I can't help but laugh at Rhett's behavior as a child! LOL....I wasn't the best kid either....although I always ate my food....no matter what it was. And his addictive personality reminds me of someone I "know". I am looking forward for Chapter 2 & enjoy discovering new stuff!

this was a very important chapter in my opinion. im glad we got to see what kind of life the family had, it obviously had a great affect on how michael turned out. i dont see how anyonce could question its relevance to michaels life.
